Internship Experiences
Carpe Diem Childcare @ Nordcom 1

Carpe Diem was where I completed my internship with a Playgroup (PG) class, marking my first experience working with toddlers. Being attached to the same group of children for an extended period allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of toddler development and the importance of responsive caregiving. I learned how to facilitate hands-on and play-based learning experiences, build trusting relationships with young children, and support their daily routines and developmental needs. During my internship, I also conducted my Final Year Project, exploring how different teacher facilitation strategies influence toddlers’ fine motor development during open-ended art experiences. This internship strengthened my observation, lesson-planning, and facilitation skills while reinforcing my passion for creating meaningful learning experiences for young children.
Sticky Collage
In this sensory exploration lesson, I introduced children to a variety of textured materials through an interactive mystery box and sticky collage activity. Using descriptive language, questioning, and hands-on exploration, I encouraged children to investigate how different materials felt and behaved when placed on a sticky surface. The children actively participated by touching, pressing, peeling, and repositioning materials, developing their sensory awareness, fine motor skills, and emerging vocabulary. This experience was highly engaging as it encouraged curiosity, experimentation, and independent exploration while providing opportunities for collaborative learning and communication.
My Bus Parts
In this Discovery of the World lesson, I introduced children to the different parts of a bus through a hands-on matching activity. Using a discussion web, questioning, and guided conversations, I encouraged children to identify familiar bus parts such as the wheels, doors, bus number, and bus plate while exploring their functions. The children actively participated by matching bus parts to their correct positions on a bus template, developing their observation, visual discrimination, and problem-solving skills. This experience was highly engaging as it built on the children’s interest in transportation and encouraged them to make connections between the different parts of a bus and how they work together to form a complete vehicle.

MOE Kindergarten was the location where I did my 6 months internship where I was attached to a class of 20 K2 children. Being at a centre for an extensive period made me feel like a real teacher taking care of my own classroom. I shadowed an experienced teacher, learned many observational skills, sharpened my lesson-planning skills, and became more confident teaching in a classroom setting. This internship experience strengthened my passion for being an early childhood educator and I looked forward to going to school every day.
Object Hunt
In this Discovery of the World lesson, I guided children through an interactive “Object Hunt” where they explored their classroom environment and applied their understanding of living and non-living things. Throughout the experience, I used open-ended questioning, peer discussions, and collaborative learning strategies to encourage children to share their ideas and justify their thinking. The children worked together to classify objects into different categories, developing their observation, sorting, and critical thinking skills. This hands-on learning experience was highly engaging as it allowed children to connect classroom concepts to real-world objects while actively constructing knowledge with their peers.
Shape Hunt
In this Numeracy lesson, I introduced children to circles, triangles, and squares through an interactive storybook reading of The World of Worm: Shapes. To reinforce their understanding, the children participated in a musical hula hoop game where they listened for shape cues and matched them to the corresponding shape hula hoops. Throughout the experience, I used questioning and demonstrations to encourage active participation, shape recognition, and problem-solving. The lesson was highly engaging as it combined movement, music, and play, allowing children to learn through hands-on exploration while developing both their cognitive and physical skills.
St. James Church Kindergarten

St. James’ Kindergarten was where I completed two practicum placements with a class of 24 K1 and 26 K2 children respectively. These experiences provided me with valuable opportunities to step into the role of an educator and gain a deeper understanding of classroom life. Throughout my placements, I developed my confidence in lesson facilitation, classroom management, and building positive relationships with children. I also had the opportunity to plan and conduct learning experiences, including my first cooking activity with children, which strengthened my ability to create meaningful and hands-on learning opportunities.
Giving Thanks with Soup
In this Discovery of the World lesson, I guided children through a meaningful cooking experience in which they prepared macaroni soup for the school's kitchen staff to show appreciation for their contributions. Throughout the lesson, I facilitated discussions using questioning and scaffolding strategies to encourage children to reflect on how they could express gratitude towards others. The children actively participated in preparing the ingredients by cutting sausages and observing the cooking process, providing opportunities for hands-on learning, collaboration, and fine motor development. This experience was highly engaging for the children as they took pride in contributing and were excited to present the soup to the kitchen staff personally.

Uniquely Singapore
In this Discovery of The World lesson, I introduced various places of interest in Singapore to the children. I would interact with the children throughout and ask them prompting questions to facilitate the experience. I also got the children to come up and share some of their experiences at the different locations as well. After the sharing, the children worked in teams to draw out their desired place of interest. This lesson was highly enjoyable for the children as they would ask questions about the places and share more about their experiences in their groups.
Reusing Newpaper
In this Motor Skills lesson, I introduced the kicking skill to the children. I provided ongoing facilitation during their group activities and provided guidance with the kicking skill when needed. The children were highly engaged throughout the activity and anticipated their turns. The whole class was able to grasp the kicking skill after this 2-day long activity I conducted with the children and they were able to explain the steps needed to execute the skill successfully.
E-bridge Pre-school @ Woodlands Drive 16

I did a 1-month attachment at E-Bridge Preschool where I was attached to a class of 20 K1 children. It was my first time teaching a full class of children without aid from other teachers. I was attached to a senior teacher that taught me many classroom management tactics and helped me refine my lesson plans. This attachment experience provided me with great insight into the early childhood industry as I worked there daily. I got to experience doing arrival checks and dismissal duties with other teachers.
"Tr" Blends
In this Language and Literacy lesson, I introduced the consonant blend, "Tr" to the children where they constructed words that started with Tr and matched them to the respective images. I provided facilitation by sounding out some of the words for the children and asking prompting questions to get the children to sound out the words they blended. This lesson was highly enjoyable for the children as they could be seen engaged in the activity with their partner trying to solve the words provided to them.
Flower Patterns
In this Numeracy lesson, I introduced the AABB Patterning to the children. The children used different coloured flowers to represent the pattern. I provided facilitation by giving assistance when needed to the children to continue the pattern. The children were able to grasp the AABB patterning skill by the end of the activity as they were able to verbally convey the next colours in the pattern without the use of concrete objects. The children can be seen enjoying the activity as they wanted to swap cards with other classmates to complete more patterns.

I did a 1-week attachment at PCF SparkleTots. It was my first time being in a preschool setting as an assistant teacher in Year 1. I was attached to a class of 20 Playgroup children and used this opportunity to learn more about routine care duties such as diapering and toileting with the children. I got to spend my week playing with the children and reading them stories before nap time. It was a fun introductory experience for me into the world of Early Childhood.
