Bachelor of Early Childhood Education with Minor in Applied Behavioural Sciences (Honours)
My time at university has been a meaningful and enriching journey that deepened my understanding of Early Childhood Education. I am honoured to have been selected for the accelerated three-year programme, which challenged me to grow both academically and professionally. Through my studies, I gained a deeper appreciation of child development, curriculum planning, assessment and documentation, and inclusive educational practices. The programme also provided valuable opportunities to connect theory with practice through field experiences, strengthening my ability to support children’s learning, development, and well-being in meaningful ways.
Asessing and Documenting Learning
This module developed my skills in observation, assessment, and curriculum planning through the study of a focus child. Using authentic assessment methods such as anecdotal records, running records, and detailed observations, I analysed children's strengths, interests, and developmental needs to design meaningful learning experiences and differentiated extensions that supported their individual growth.
Teaching Practice
My first practicum experience with Playgroup toddlers provided me with valuable opportunities to apply my knowledge in a real early childhood setting. Through planning and conducting lessons, facilitating play-based learning experiences, supporting daily routines, and building meaningful relationships with children, I developed confidence in my teaching abilities and strengthened my skills in observation, communication, classroom management, and responsive caregiving. This experience deepened my understanding of how toddlers learn through exploration, play, and nurturing interactions.
